Supposing you want to add a number of years, months, weeks or days to the date in Excel, normally you can solve this by using formulas. But it’s not easy for you to remember formulas. Kutools for Excel’s built-ins Commonly-used Formulas with lots of commonly-used formulas, you can quickly apply formulas in Excel without remembering or knowing them.

Add number of years to date or subtract years from date

Add number of months to date or subtract months from date

Add number of days to date or subtract days from date

Add number of weeks to date or subtract weeks from date


Add number of years to date or subtract years from date

For example, I have the following date list, to add years or subtract years from the given date, please do with following steps:

1. Click a cell where you want to put the result, for instance, I click cell B2, and then click Kutools > Formula Helper > Add years to date, see screenshot:

2. In the popped out Formula Helper dialog box, click the first shot button 1 button to select the date cell that you want to add years besides the Date Time, and then enter the number of years that you want to add to the date besides the Number box, see screenshot:

3. Then click Ok button, and the years have been added to the date, then drag the fill handle down to the cells that you want to add the years, and you will get the following result:

Note: To subtract a number of years from the date, you just need to change the number to negative in the Number textbox of Formula Helper dialog, such as -6.


Add number of months to date or subtract months from date

To add a number of months to or subtract months from dates, the Add months to date also can help you.

1. Select a cell where you want to put the result, for instance, I click cell B2, and then click Kutools > Formula Helper > Add months to date, see screenshot:

2. In the Formula Helper dialog box, click the first shot button 1 button to select the date cell that you want to add a number of months besides the Date Time, and then enter the number of months that you want to add to the date besides the Number box, see screenshot:

3. And then click Ok button to close the dialog, and drag the fill handle down to the cells that you want to add the months, all the dates have been added with a specific number of months. See screenshot:

Note: To subtract a number of months from the date, you just need to change the number to negative in the Number textbox of Formula Helper dialog, such as -8.


Add number of days to date or subtract days from date

Sometimes, you may need to add or subtract a specific number of days to the date, please do as follows:

1. Select a cell to put the result, in this example, I click cell B2, and then click Kutools > Formula Helper > Add days to date, see screenshot:

2. In the Formula Helper dialog box, click the first shot button 1 button to select the date cell that you want to add days besides the Date Time, and then type the number of days that you want to add to the date besides the Number box, see screenshot:

3. Then click Ok button to get the new date, and then drag the fill handle down to the cells that you want to add the number of days, and you will get the following result:

Note: To subtract a number of days from the date, you just need to change the number to negative in the Number textbox of Formula Helper dialog, such as -15.


Add number of weeks to date or subtract weeks from date

Now, I want to add 12 weeks to the given date, the Formulas utility also can help you.

1. Click a cell to put the result, in this example, I click cell B2, and then click Kutools > Formula Helper > Add weeks to date, see screenshot:

2. In the Formula Helper dialog box, click the first shot button 1 button to select the date cell that you want to add weeks besides the Date Time, and then type the number of weeks that you want to add to the date besides the Number box, see screenshot:

3. And then click Ok button, the number of weeks has been added to the date, then drag the fill handle down to the cells that you want to apply this formula to return the following result:

Note: To subtract a number of weeks from the date, you just need to change the number to negative in the Number textbox of Formula Helper dialog, such as -12.

Tips:

1. To find the exact formula quickly, you can also check the Filter checkbox, and then type the key word of the formula you need in the Formulas Helper dialog.

hello, i need help with this formula (i think). I have a contract term of 3 years. I have a column saved with the 3 year expiration date. I need to create a column that says if the cancellation date (usually would be the date they contacted (so today)is still in the contract cycle of they have satisfied their contract Depending on the finding show yes to bill the cancellation fee or no.
