Quickly create and insert unique sequence numbers in Excel 2007/2010
Normally it is easy to insert sequence numbers in contiguous cells of Excel by dragging mouse, after you enter two numbers, such as 1 and 2. However, if you want to insert custom sequence numbers in Excel, such as 000 – 001, 000 – 002, … 000 -020, it is quite hard because you cannot add 0 as beginning number of cells unless you convert numbers to text. Now, with the Insert Sequence Number utility of Kutools for Excel, you can create any customizing sequence numbers and insert them quickly. With this handy utility, you can:
- Insert unique sequence numbers in contiguous cells or ranges.
- Insert unique sequence numbers in any non-contiguous cells or ranges
- Continue unique the sequence numbers in other worksheets and workbooks
- Customize and define sequence numbers with prefix, suffix, increment, digit numbers, etc.

Click the Kutools >> Modify >> Insert Sequence Numbers

Usage:
1. Insert Sequence Numbers
Step 1: Select the range you will insert sequence numbers.
Step 2: In the Insert Sequence Numbers dialog box, select and highlight one of Sequences.
Step 3: Click Fill Range button.

Then all cells in the selection are filled with the selected sequence.
2. Create new sequence numbers
Step 1: In the Insert Sequence Number dialog box, click the New button.
Step 2: Now you get into the Create New Sequence dialog box, configure the settings according to your needs.
Step 3: Click OK.

Then the new created sequence is added into the sequence list in Insert Sequence Number dialog box.
Notes:
1. You must define a sequence before you can use it.
2. This utility supports undo feature (Ctrl + Z).
