How to average values based on cell color in Excel?
When you need to calculate the average of a range values based on cell color as below screenshot shown, do you have any good ideas instead of calculating manually? If you have Kutools for Excel installed, you can use its powerful Count by Color function to quickly calculate the average of a range values based on cell filled color.
After free installing Kutools for Excel, please do as below:
1. Select the range of data, and click Kutools Plus > Count by Color. See screenshot:
2. In the popping dialog, select Standard formatting under Color method section and Background under Count type section. Now you can view multiple calculate results besides average shown in the dialog. See screenshot:
If you want to generate the result in a new workbook, you can click Generate report from the dialog to create new workbook to list the result.
Average values by cell font color
If you want to get the average of a range values by the font color, you also can apply Count by Color of Kutools for Excel to quickly calculate.
After free installing Kutools for Excel, please do as below:
1. Select the data range and click Kutools Plus > Count by Color.
2. Then in the Count by Color dialog, select Standard formatting under Color method section and Font under Count type section. And then you can see the calculate results shown in the dialog. See screenshot:
You also can click Generate report to create a new workbook to list the calculate result.
With Count by Color utility, you can count or sum cells by standard formatting color or conditional formatting color.
