How to find matched value by searching upwards in Excel?

You can apply the below formula to find the matched value by searching upwards in Excel. Please do as follows.

1. Select a blank cell for locating the matched value, enter the below formula into it and then press the Enter key. 

=LOOKUP(2,1/(A2:A5=D2),B2:B5)

Note: In the formula, D2 is the cell containing the value you will find matched value based on; A2:A5 contains the lookup value, and B2:B4 contains the matched value you will get.

1. Select a blank cell to output the result, then click Kutools > Super LOOKUP > LOOKUP from Bottom to Top. See screenshot:

2. In the LOOKUP from Bottom to Tp dialog box, please configure as follows:

2.1 In the Lookup Values box, select the cell containing the value you will find the result based on;
2.2 In the Output Range box, select a blank cell to output the result;
2.3 In the Dara range box, select the whole range containing the lookup values column and the result values column;
2.4 In the Key column drop down list, select the column containing the values you will find the result based on;
2.5 In the Return column drop down list, select the column containing the result you will return;
2.6 Click OK to start the operation.

Then you can see the first matched value from bottom to top is populated in selected cell immediately. At the same time, a formula is created automatically.
