How to find the first numeric cell in an Excel range?
If there is a list of data mixed with text and numbers, how can you quickly find the first numeric value as below screenshot shown in Excel? Here I have a formula that can quickly handle it without manual checking.
Find the first numeric cell in Excel
Find the first numeric cell in Excel
To find the first numeric cell which includes times, dates and numbers, you can use this formula:
Select a cell which you place the finding result, type this formula =INDEX(A1:A10,MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(ISNUMBER(A1:A10),0),0)), and press Enter key.
Now it returns the actual value of the first numeric in the specified list. See screenshot:
Note: In the formula, A1:A10 is the specified list you will check for the first numeric value from, and you can change it as you need.
