How to export/save selection, active sheet, or multiple sheets to CSV files in Excel?

Sometimes we need to export workbook's data to CSV files when we need to send a CSV file of the Excel data to other users or to import a CSV file of the Excel data in other programs. Here we provide you with two methods to export and save workbooks as CSV files.

Save sheet as CSV with Save As feature

By default, the Excel workbook will be saved in the format of .xlsx. If you need to export the data of active worksheet to a CSV file, you can use the Save As command with the following steps:

1. Activate the worksheet you want to export or save as a CSV file, and click File (or Office Button) > Save As.

2. In the opening Save As dialog box, please select the destination folder you will save the CSV file into, name the CSV file in the File Name box, and then select the CSV (Comma Delimited) from the Save as type drop down list. See left screenshot:

3. Click the Save button in the Save As dialog box.

4. Two warning dialog box will come out, please click the OK button or Yes button to close them.

For exporting each sheet or multiple sheets in active workbook as separate CSV files, the above VBA may be not convenient enough. 2. In the opening Split Workbook dialog box, please do as follows:

(1) In the Workbook name section, please check the worksheets which you will export as separate CSV file;

(2) Go to Options section, check the Specify save format option, and select the CSV (Macintosh (*.csv) from below drop down list. See left screenshot:

3. In the opening Browse For Folder dialog box, please specify the destination folder where you will save the exported CSV files into, and click the OK button.

And now all specified worksheets are exported as separated CSV files and saved into the specified folder. See screenshot:

Hi,

I tried the 1st option for create a CSV file. I was successful in doing that. However, when I am importing the csv file on an .aspx page, it is not importing the file successfully. Can someone please help? It is urgent

When I export from excel to cvs I need each item to be on a different line. As it leaves a space so the computer does not read next record on the next line. Any ideas

When i export from excel to csv comma delimited i cannot transfer characters displayed in different languages (names in Arabic for instance). How can i also transfer those to the CSV format file?
