How to search subject line only in Outlook?
When you do searches in Outlook with just typing keywords in the Instant Search box above Mail List, the results tend to be multiple which meet the condition with subject, email body and so on. If you want to just search for the emails which the keywords are included in the subject only, what would you do? Search subject line only with adding the Subject criteria to the Instant Search pane
By default, the Instant Search pane only display the search box without any search criteria. You need to manually add the Subject criteria to the Instant Search pane for narrowing your search.
1. In outlook 2010 and 2013, please click on the Instant Search box to enable the Search tab. And then click More > Subject. See screenshot:
2. Then the Subject criteria is added in the Instant Search pane.
In Outlook 2007, please click the button to expand the Query Builder.
3. Type the keywords in the Subject box, then the search will only act in subject line only.
Search subject line only with Advanced Find function
Besides the above method, you can use the Advanced Find function to search the subject line only.
1. Please press the shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + F to open the Advanced Find dialog box.
2. In the Advanced Find dialog box, go to the Advanced tab, then:
1). Click Field > All Mail fields > Subject; See screenshot:
2). Then select contains in the Condition drop-down list;
3). Type the keywords you want to search in subject only in the Value box;
4). Click the Add to List button;
5). Then select the condition you have just added in the Find items that match these criteria box, and then click the Find Now button.
Now, only the emails which keywords are included in the subject are listed.
