How to delegate access permissions for other Exchange users in Outlook?
As Exchange users, you are not only able to share other users’ calendars but also folders. It’s easy to share your calendar with other Exchange users with sending a sharing email. But how to share your Inbox folder, Tasks folder, Contacts folder, etc. with others? In this article, I will guide you to delegate access permission for other Exchange users to your folders stored in Exchange server step by step, and access other Exchange user’s folders with permission in Microsoft Outlook as well.

Delegate access permission for other Exchange users in Outlook 2010 and 2013
To delegate access permission for other Exchange users to open and view your folders in Microsoft Outlook, please do as following:
Step 1: Click the File > Info > Account Settings > Delegate Access. See screen shot:
Note: If you cannot see the Delegate Access option, probably you are not locating in the Exchange account. Please get into the Exchange account to show the Delegate Access option.
Step 2: In the popping up Delegates dialog box, please click the Add button.
Step 3: Now you get into the Add Users dialog box,
(1) Click to highlight the Exchange user name you will delegate access permission for;
(2) Click the Add -> button;
(3) At last click the OK button.
Step 4: Now the Delegate Permissions dialog box comes out.
(1) Click the box behind a folder name, such as the Tasks, and select one access permission from the drop down list. See screen shot. And then specify access permission for the other folders separately.
(2) It’s optional to check the options of Automatically send a message to delegate summarizing these permissions.
(3) Click the OK button to exit the Delegate Permissions dialog box.
Step 4: Click the OK button in the Delegates dialog box.
Up to now, you have delegated access permission of specified folders to your specified Exchange users.
Delegate access permission for other Exchange users in Outlook 2007
To delegate access permission for other Exchange users to access your folders of exchange account, please do as following:
Step 1: Right click the folder you will delegate other Exchange users to access, and select the Properties from the right-clicking menu.
Step 2: In the popping up folder Properties dialog box, please click the Add button on the Permissions tab. See screen shot:
Step 3: Now you get into the Add Users dialog box, click to highlight an Exchange user name you will delegate access permission to, click the Add -> button, and then click the OK. See screen shot:
Step 4: Then you get back to the folder Properties dialog box, and:
(1) Click to highlight the new exchange user name you added in last step;
(2) Click the Permission Level box, and select a option from the drop down list, such as Editor. See screen shot below.
(3) Click the OK button.
Note: Actually this method is also worked in Outlook 2010 and 2013 for delegating access permission for other Exchange users.
Access other Exchange users’ folders with permission in Outlook
If you have got access permission to other Exchange users’ folder, you can open the specified folder with following steps:
Step 1: Click the File > Open & Export > Other User’s Folder in Outlook 2013.
In Outlook 2010 and 2007, please click the File > Open > Other User’s Folder.
Step 2: Then the Open Other User’s Folder dialog box pops up.
(1) Enter the Exchange user name who delegated access permission for you in the Name box;
(2) Click the Folder type box, and click a folder name from the drop down list. See screen shot:
In our case, other Exchange user (ttw1) delegate access permission of task folder for me.
Therefore, I specify the Folder type as Tasks in the Step 2. Then I can access ttw1’s task folder in my Task view. See screen shot below:
