How to save Word document as image (png, jpeg and so on)?
There are various scenarios where saving a Word document as an image can be highly beneficial. For instance, converting a document into an image format makes it easier to share content across platforms that don't support Word files. It also ensures that the formatting and layout remain intact, which is crucial for professional presentations, social media posts, and email attachments. Additionally, images are more accessible for embedding in web pages and blogs.
In this tutorial, we will explore three easy methods to save a Word document as an image. Whether you need to save just one page or convert an entire document into individual images, we've got you covered. Follow these step-by-step instructions to achieve your desired result:
- Save document as an image with Screenshot feature in Word(5 steps)
- Batch save each page of Word document as individual images with Kutools for Word(3 steps)
- Save document as an image with Print Screen key and Paint Program(7 steps)
Save one page of document as an image with screenshot feature in Word
Starting from Word 2010, the "Screenshot" feature is available under the "Insert" tab, allowing you to take screenshots of open windows and insert them into a document. Here’s how to save one page of a Word document as an image using this feature:
- Open the Word document and display the page you want to save as an image. Adjust the zoom level by clicking "View" > "One Page".
Note: If you need to save multiple pages as one image, click "View" > "Multiple Pages" to show multiple pages on your screen together.
- In the Word window, click "File" > "New" (or press Ctrl + N) to create a new document.
- In the new document, click "Insert" > "Screenshot", and then select a screenshot of the document you wish to save as an image from the drop-down list.
Note: You can also click "Insert" > "Screenshot" > "Screen Clipping" to manually select the portion of the page you want to save as an image.
- Right-click the inserted screenshot and select "Save as Picture" from the context menu.
- In the "File Save" dialog box, follow these steps:
- Open the folder where you want to save the image.
- Name the image in the "File name" box.
- Select the image type from the "Save as type" drop-down list.
- Click "Save".
Note: This method does not work in Word 2007 or earlier versions, as they do not support the Screenshot feature.
Batch save each page of a Word document as individual images with Kutools for Word
The previous method allows saving only one or multiple pages of a Word document as a single image at a time. However, with Kutools for Word's "Export Doc as Images" feature, you can quickly save each page of a specified Word document as separate images in bulk. Follow these steps:
- Open the Word document whose pages you want to save as images. Navigate to "Kutools Plus" > "More" > "Export Doc as Images".
- In the "Export Documents to Images" dialog box, set up the following options:
- Click the "Browse
" button next to the "Path" box to specify the destination folder where the images will be saved.
- Choose the desired image format from the "Image Type" drop-down list.
- Select the preferred size for the exported images from the "Image Size" drop-down list.
- Optionally, enable the "Create Index html" option to generate an index HTML file for easier navigation.
- Click the "Browse
- Click the "Export" button to initiate the process.
When the export is finished, the folder where the images are saved will open by itself. Each page in the Word document will be saved as a separate image. If you selected the option to create an index HTML file, it will also be created to help you view the images more easily.

Save one page of document as an image with Print Screen key and Paint Program
This method will guide you through taking a screenshot of one page from a Word document and saving it as an image using the Paint program.
- Open the document in Word, display the page you want to save as an image, and adjust the zoom level by clicking "View" > "One Page".
Note: If you need to save multiple pages as one image, click "View" > "Multiple Pages" to show multiple pages on your screen together.
- Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard to take a screenshot of the document.
- Open the Paint program:
- In Windows 8 and newer versions: Click the "Search" icon, type "Paint" in the search box, and select "Paint".
- In Windows 7: Click "Start" > "All Programs" > "Accessories" > "Paint".
- Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot into the Paint window.
- Crop the screenshot:
- Click the "Select" button.
- Draw a box around the part of the screenshot you want to save as an image.
- Click the "Crop" button.
- Click "File" > "Save" in the Paint window.
- In the "Save As" dialog box:
- Select the folder where you want to save the image.
- Enter a name for the image in the "File name" box.
- Choose the image type from the "Save as type" drop-down list.
- Click "Save".
