Excel Formula: Add country code or area code to phone number

When you import phone numbers from some devices to a worksheet, it may lost the country code and area code. Here this tutorial provides two simple formula to quickly add same country code and area code to a list of phone numbers in Excel.

Generic formula:

Country_code&Area_code&Phone_num

Or

CONCATENATE(Country_code,Area_code,Phone_num)

Arguments

Country_code: the country code you want to add to the phone number, it can be in number format, text format, such as “86”, “+86”, “(86)”.
Area_code: the area code you want to add to the phone number, it can be in number format or text format, such as “20”, “+20”, “20-”.
Phone_num: the number you used to add country code and area code, it can be in number format, text format, such as “44243342”, “442-433-42”.

How this formula work

Supposing the phone number in cell B3, area code in cell E3, country code in cell F3, please use below formula:

=F3&E3&B3

Or

=CONCATENATE(F3,E3,B3)

Press Enter key, the area code and country code have been added in the front of the phone number.

Explanation

CONCATENATE function is used to join two or more texts items from multiple cells into one.
