Excel CHISQ.DIST.RT Function

The CHISQ.DIST.RT function returns the right-tailed probability of the chi-squared distribution. Use this function to compare observed and expected values.

chisq-dist-rt function 1

  • X (required): The value at which you want to evaluate the chi-squared distribution. It must be greater than or equal to 0.
  • Deg_freedom (required): The value representing the degrees of freedom. It must be greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 10^10.

Return value

The CHISQ.DIST.RT function returns a numeric value.

Function notes

  1. If the deg_freedom argument is not an integer, the CHISQ.DIST.RT function will truncate it to an integer.
  2. The #VALUE! error value occurs when any of the arguments is non-numeric.
  3. The #NUM! error value occurs if:
    • the supplied x argument is < 0
    • the supplied deg_freedom argument is < 1 or > 10^10
  4. The CHISQ.DIST.RT function is newly introduced in Excel 2010, so it is not available in earlier versions of Excel.

In this case, we want to calculate the right-tailed probability of the chi-squared distribution based on the data provided in the table below, please do as follows.

1. Please copy the formula below into cell E5, then press the Enter key to get the result.

2.Select this result cell and drag its autofill handle down to get the rest of the results.
