When I open a file I receive in an email, it opens in protected view. If I don't enable editing immediately, the cursor turns from an arrow to a circle with a slash through it and it isn't possible to make anything happen until Word or PowerPoint is shut down and restarted. The problem doesn't seem to occur every time, but often enough to be a major hassle. I'll have to reluctantly shut down OfficeTab if I can't resolve the problem.

Step 1: Start Word, click File and then choose Options.
Step 2: Click Trust Center and then Trust Center Options.
Step 3: Click Protected View, then disable (uncheck) all three of the options listed there.
Step 4: Click OK and you're done!
