In Excel, adding multiple rows might seem tricky. Typically, you'd have to select an equal number of rows to those you wish to add, then go through a series of clicks, with the limitation of only adding rows above. But, Kutools for Excel's Add Rows feature and the Add Below feature are the game changers. The Add Rows tool allows you to swiftly insert multiple rows, either above or below, all at once. Easily insert multiple rows above or below a cell

Step 1: Select Add Rows feature

Right-click on a cell (A3 in this case) that you want to add rows above or below, select Add Rows from the context menu.

Step 2: In the Add Rows dialog, specify settings
  1. Choose to add rows above or below.
  2. Specify the number of rows you want to add.
  3. Click OK.

Note:
  • The newly inserted rows will inherit the format of the row in which the selected cell is located.
  • This feature supports Undo. (Ctrl + Z)

Quickly insert multiple rows below the selected rows

To swiftly insert a row or multiple rows below the desired one, Kutools for Excel's Add Below will be a good choice.

  • For adding one row below a desired row

    Right-click the row number of the row that you want to add a blank row below, and select Add Below from the drop-down menu.

    In this case, I right-click the row number 4 as I want to add a blank row below the fourth row.

    Result

    A row is added below the fourth row.

  • For adding multiple rows below selected rows

    Select the same number of rows as you want to insert, right-click at any selected row, select Add Below from the context menu. In this case, I select row 2 to row 4.

    Result

    Three rows are added below the fourth row.

Note:
  • The newly inserted rows will inherit the format of the last row of the selection.
  • This feature supports Undo. (Ctrl + Z)
