Excel's MIN or MAX function can only identify the max or min value in a range, but it cannot locate and select the cells containing max or min values. Kutools for Excel’s Select Cells with Max & Min Value tool can help you quickly select the cells with maximum or minimum value.

Select the maximum/minimum values of each row or column
Click Kutools >> Select >> Select Cells with Max & Min Value. See screenshots:

Select the minimum values of first cell or all cells
1. Highlight the range that you want to select the smallest values.
2. In the Select Cells With Max & Min Value dialog box, specify the type of cells to search (formulas, values, or both) in the Look in box.
3. Then check Minimum value from Go to option, and check Cell option in Base section, if you want to select the first matching cell, just choose the First cell only option, to select all the matching cells, please choose All cells option. See screenshot:
4. And then click OK. A prompt box will remind you how many cells will be selected. See screenshot:
5. Click OK. All of the smallest values have been selected. See screenshot:

2. Go to the Select Cells With Max & Min Value dialog box, specify the type of cells to search (formulas, values, or both) in the Look in box.
3. Then check Maximum value from Go to option, then select Cell in the Base section, if you want to select the first matching cell, just choose the First cell only option, to select all the matching cells, please choose All cells option. See screenshot:
4. And then click OK. A prompt box will remind you how many cells will be selected. See screenshot:
5. Click OK. All of the greatest values have been selected. See screenshot:

1. Select the range and apply this utility.
2. Go to specify the type of cells to search (formulas, values, or both) in the Look in list box.
3. Then check Maximum value or Minmum value in the Go to section, and check Entire row or Entire column in the Base section, then go to Select section to choose First cell only or All cells. See screenshot:
4. Click Ok, and a prompt box will tell you the number of selected cells, just click OK to close it. Now the maximum value in each row or column have been selected. See screenshot:
