Quickly create worksheets from a list of worksheet names in Excel

How can you do if you need to create a list of worksheets with customized worksheet names in Excel? Instead of modifying the sheet names one by one after creating, you can use kutools for Excel's Create Sequence Worksheets utility to create a list of worksheet from various worhseet names in Excel.

Create sequence worksheets from a list of Excel default names

In Excel file the default worksheet name displayed as Sheet1,Sheet2,Sheet3…,and if you need to create multiple worksheet names as this, you need to click new tab many times, but with this Create Sequence Worksheets utility, you can quickly create multiple sequence default sheet names.

1. Apply this utility by clicking Kutools Plus > Worksheet > Create Sequence Worksheets.

2. In the Create Sequence Worksheets dialog box, specify the following options:

• (1.) Select one worksheet that you want to create sequence worksheets based on.
• (2.) Specify the number of the worksheets that you want to create.
• (3.) Then check Excel Default Name option under Sheet names based on.

3. Then click OK, and the sequence worksheets with default sheet names have been created in a new workbook.

Create sequence worksheets from a list of month / day names

Supposing you want to generate multiple worksheets from a list of month or day names, with this multifunctional tool, you can quickly deal with it.

1. Go to the Create Sequence Worksheets dialog box, do the following operations:

• (1.) Select one worksheet that you want to create sequence worksheets based on.
• (2.) Check Custom Lists option under Sheet names based on to expand this dialog box.
• (3.) Then in the expanded dialog, click the day names or month names from the right list box that you want, and the number of the creating worksheets will be displayed automatically.

2. And then click OK, a list of worksheets with the moth or day names have been created in a new workbook. See screenshot:

With this utility, you can also generate sequence worksheets based on series numbers.

1. Apply this feature, and in the Create Sequence Worksheets dialog box, set the following options:

• (1.) Select one worksheet that you want to create sequence worksheets based on.
• (2.) Check Sequence Numbers option under Sheet names based on to expand this dialog box.
• (3.) And in the expanded dialog, set the sequential numbers and you can add the prefix or suffix for the numbers as you need.
• (4.) Specify the number of the worksheets that you want to create.

2. After specifying the options, click OK, and you will get the following sequence worksheets.

Create sequence worksheets from a custom list

Sometimes, you need the certain worksheet names frequently, in order not to input them over and over again, you can add the sheet names to the custom list, and then you can repeatedly use them to create new workbook with the custom list.

1. Go to the Create Sequence Worksheets dialog box, and specify the operations as follows:

• (1.) Select one worksheet that you want to create sequence worksheets based on.
• (2.) Click Custom List option under Sheet names based on to expand this dialog box.
• (3.) Then click button and a Create List dialog box will pop out, you can create your own custom list data. In the Create Lists dialog, type one sheet name you need and click  button to add the name into the below list box, repeating it to add other names.

2. After inputting the sheet names, click Add button to add this list data into the list box. And click the custom list from the right list box that you are created, and the number of the creating worksheets will be displayed automatically.

3. Then click OK, and your customized names of worksheets have been created in a new workbook. See screenshot:

Tip: If you check Worksheet color option in the Create Lists dialog box, you can specify the color for the sheet tabs. See following screenshots:

Supposing you have a range of data, and you want to create worksheets from the range of data. How can you do?

1. Select the range that you want to create worksheets.

2. Go to the Create Sequence Worksheets dialog box, select one worksheet that you want to create sequence worksheets based on. And then check Data in a range option under Sheet names based on, and the number of the creating worksheets will be displayed automatically. See screenshot:

3. And then click OK, the new worksheets have been created with the cell values in a new workbook. See screenshot:
