Create a New Workbook with Customized Worksheet Names in Excel 2007/2010

How can you do if you need to create a sequence of new worksheets with customized worksheet names in Excel? The way I can work out is that, create a new workbook containing several sheets, name the sheets based on your need and then save this workbook in order to use it next time. Instead of modifying the sheet names one by one after creating, you can refer to the Create Sequence Worksheets tool in Kutools for Excel. It can help you quickly create a new workbook of multiple worksheets with customized worksheet names in Excel 2007 /2010. Demo

Create a New Workbook by specifying the worksheet names from:

  • Month names, such as January, February, March…
  • Day names, such as Monday, Tuesday, Thursday…
  • Numerical sequence
  • a Series
  • Custom list
  • Data in a range

1. Specify the worksheet names by using month names or day names

arrow 1.1 Select to use the Month Names or Days Names as customized worksheet names to created a new workbook. (See Fig.3)

arrow 1.2 Check the “Abbreviate month name”, and the sheet name will be created at a abbreviate form, For example, “Jan” indicates "January".

2. Specify the worksheet names by using numerical sequence or a series (See Fig. 4)

arrow 2.1 Check the “Numerical sequence” option;

arrow 2.2 Specify the related settings, such as the First Number and Increment Value;

arrow 2.3 Specify the number of worksheets you need to create, and click "OK".

It is similar to create sequence worksheets based on a series. The only difference is that you can add text before the number if you choose the “a Series” option, and then the sheets will be created with the name combine by text and sequent number.

3. Specify the worksheet names by using custom list(See Fig. 5)

arrow 3.1 Choose the “Custom list” option, and click “New”;

arrow 3.2 Specify the worksheet names, and separate them with "/";

arrow 3.3 Click “OK” to add the custom worksheet names;

arrow 3.4 You can repeatedly use the custom worksheet names list to create a new workbook.

4. Specify the worksheet names by using using data from a range (See Fig. 6)

arrow 4.1 Check “Data in a range”;

arrow 4.2 Specify the range with the data you want to use as worksheet names;

arrow 4.3 Click “OK”, and a new workbook will be created with the customized worksheet names.
