I'm creating a ledger of sorts. In column C I have created a dropdown list of descriptions - Call it Dog, Cat, Bird, Mouse, etc. In the next column is a dollar amount. Similar to a checkbook ledger.

I would like to create a formula that would look for a single description from column C with the running dollar amount from the next column. For example

A B C D E
1 dog $2
2 cat $4
3 dog $3
4 Bird $1
5 Bird $1

THIS SHOULD BE MY END RESULT
Dog $5
Cat $4
Bird $2

I don't care how many animals. I care $$ for each category

Thank you
Create a Pivot table with B in the row and Dollar in summation. This will give you what you need
