Supposing you have a list of sequence numbers which misses some numbers in this sequence as below screenshot shown. Now you want to find the missing numbers in this sequence, and then fill the missing numbers to complete the sequence, how can you quickly find and fill the missing numbers? Fill missing numbers in sequence
To fill missing numbers in a sequence in Excel, you just need 3 steps.
1. Select the number sequence, and apply the utility by clicking Kutools > Insert > Find Missing Sequence Number.
2. Then in the Find Missing Sequence Number dialog, check Inserting missing sequence number option. See screenshot:
3. Then click Ok, and a dialog pops out and shows you how many missing numbers were found, and you just need to click OK to close it. See screenshot:
Now all missing sequence numbers have been inserted.

Insert blank rows while encountering missing numbers in sequence
If you want to insert blank rows while encountering missing numbers, you also only need 3 steps by the Find Missing Sequence Number utility.
1. Select the sequence and click Kutools > Insert > Find Missing Sequence Number.
2. In the Find Missing Sequence Number dialog, check Inserting blank rows when encountering missing sequence numbers option. See screenshot:
3. Click Ok, then a popping dialog tells you the number of missing numbers, click OK to close it. See screenshot:
Now the blank rows are inserted when encountering missing numbers in the selected sequence.

Insert new column with specific missing marker
If you want to insert a new column next to the sequence and show a specific missing marker when encountering missing sequence numbers, you also can use this utility.
1. Select the number sequence, and apply the utility by clicking Kutools > Insert > Find Missing Sequence Number.
2. Then in the Find Missing Sequence Number dialog, check Inserting new column with following missing marker option, then type the marker you need into the textbox. See screenshot:
3. Then click Ok, and a dialog pops out to display how many missing numbers were found, and you just need to click OK to close it. See screenshot:
Now a new column is inserted next to the sequence column, and the specific marker is added when encountering missing sequence numbers. See screenshot:
Fill background color while encountering missing numbers
If you just want to color the cell while encountering missing numbers, you can do as below 3 steps.
1. Select the number sequence, and apply the utility by clicking Kutools > Insert > Find Missing Sequence Number.
2. Then in the Find Missing Sequence Number dialog, check Fill background color option, then select the color you want from the drop down list. See screenshot:
3. Then click Ok, and a dialog pops out to remind you how many missing numbers were found, and you just need to click OK to close it. See screenshot:
Now the cell is colored when encountering missing sequence numbers.

Notes:
1. This utility cannot work with a filtered sequence list.
2. This utility supports Undo (Ctrl + Z).
