In Excel, if you have a number like 0.88635 in a cell and format it as 89% or 0.89, any formulas using that cell will calculate based on the original value (0.88635), not the displayed rounded value (0.89). Note: The methods provided in this tutorial have been tested in Excel 2021. There may be some differences in other Excel versions.
1. Click "File" > "Options" to enable the "Excel Options" window.
2. Click the "Advanced" tab, scroll to the "When calculating this workbook" section on the right, and check the "Set precision as displayed" checkbox. A warning dialog will appear, notifying you that this action may reduce calculation accuracy. Click "OK" and then "OK" again to apply the changes.
Now, when you calculate, Excel will use the rounded values. See the demo below:
If you just want to calculate with rounded values in some cells, you can apply the "To Actual" feature of "Kutools for Excel".
Select the values that you want to calculate with displayed values, and click "Kutools" > "To Actual." Then the values will be converted to the displayed values.
