Quickly count numbers of weekends/weekdays/specific day of week between two dates in Excel

For example, you need to figure out the weekdays excluding weekends in a date range for working schedule. Comparing to manually counting the weeks in calendar, Kutools for Excel’s Count weekdays between two dates formula can help you quickly count the number of weekdays between two dates. Supposing the start date is 2015/3/25, the end date is 2015/10/26, and you need to know how many weekends in this period. Please do as follows:

1. Please select a blank cell to use the formula, and click Kutools > Formula Helper > Count weekends between two dates. See screenshot:

2. In the Opening Formula Helper dialog box, please:

(1) Click the Browse button  in the Start Date box to select the start date cell;

(2) Click the Browse button  in the End Date box to select the end date cell.

Note: You can type in the start date or end date directly as “2015/3/25”.

3. Click the Ok button. And then you will see the number of all weekends between two dates has been counted. See screenshot:

Note: You can also directly enter the formula =INT((WEEKDAY(B1-1)-B1+B2)/7) + INT((WEEKDAY(B1-6)-B1+B2)/7) to count the weekends between two dates. (In the formula, B1 is the cell will start date, B2 is the cell with end date.)

Kutools for Excel’s Count weekdays between two dates formula will help you easily count the number of all weekdays (From Monday to Friday) in a date range in Excel. Please do as follows:

Sometimes, you may need to count the number of a certain weekday in a date range, says Sunday. Kutools for Excel’s Count the number of specific weekday formula can help you get it done easily. Please do as follows:

1. Please select a blank cell to use the formula, and click Kutools > Formula Helper > Count the number of specific weekday. See screenshot:

2. In the opening Formula Helper dialog box, please:

(1) Click the Browse button  in the Start Date box to specify the start date cell;

(2) Click the Browse button  in the End Date box to specify the end date cell;

(3) Type one number between 1 and 7 to specify the certain weekday in the Weekday box.

Tips:

(1) You can type in the start date or end date directly as “2015/3/25”.

(2) 1 indicates Sunday, 2-6 means from Monday to Friday, and 7 means Saturday. In our case, we want to count the number of Sunday; therefore we type 1 into the Weekday box.

3. Click the Ok button. And then you will get the number of the specified weekday. See screenshot:

Note: You can directly enter the formula =INT((WEEKDAY(B1-1)-B1+B2)/7) into a blank cell to get the result.
