Troubleshooting & Solutions
Run into issues? Use the targeted fixes below. Each section includes quick steps that work across Windows, macOS, and Web.
Store is empty or shows “We didn’t find any matches”
Solutions:
Solution 1: Enable connected experiences
File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Privacy Options → turn on connected experiences; restart the app.Solution 2: Fix account mismatch
Sign out of Office → close the app → relaunch → sign in → try Insert > Get Add-ins again.Solution 3: Org policy
If your tenant disables the Store, ask IT for Centralized Deployment or use Method 1.Solution 4: Network check
Try another network (home/hotspot).
“Add-ins / Get Add-ins” is missing
Solutions:
Solution 1: Your organization turned this off (most common)
Ask your Microsoft 365 admin to either turn on the Office Store for your account or install Kutools for you via Centralized Deployment. Until the admin does this, the “Add-ins / Get Add-ins” option won’t appear.Solution 2: Restore the command on the ribbon
The button can be hidden by customization. Re-add it in File → Options → Customize Ribbon (Windows) or the Ribbon preferences on macOS, then restart the app.
- Excel/Word (Microsoft 365): Home → Add-ins (or Insert → Get Add-ins in older UI).
- Outlook (Classic): Home → Get Add-ins.
- Outlook on the web / New Outlook: Home → More apps → Add apps/add-ins.
“Get it now” is disabled or blocked
Solutions:
Solution 1: Organization policy (most common)
Your Microsoft 365 tenant blocks marketplace installs. Ask your admin to either enable the Office Store for your account or deploy Kutools via Centralized Deployment. Until then, “Get it now” will stay unavailable.Solution 2: Wrong account type
Many Office add-ins require a work or school (Microsoft 365) account. If you’re signed in with a personal Microsoft account (Outlook.com/Hotmail), switch to your work or school account in AppSource and in your Office apps, then try again.
Admin steps (summary)
- In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings → Integrated apps (Centralized Deployment) and deploy the add-in.
- Assign to a pilot group, validate, then roll out broadly.
- Ask users to restart Office or re-open the web app to refresh policies.
Installed but not visible
Solutions:
Solution 1: Force a sync via the web (most effective)
Open the web version of the same app (Excel/Word/Outlook) → sign in with the same Microsoft 365 account → open Kutools once. Then return to desktop and reopen the app.Solution 2: Enable it in “My add-ins”
Excel/Word:Home → Add-ins → My add-ins (or Insert → My Add-ins) → select Kutools → Add.
Outlook (New/Classic/Web):Home → Get Add-ins → My add-ins → enable Kutools.Tip: In Outlook on the web, you can use Home → More apps, right-click on Kutools for Outlook, then Pin it to the toolbar.Solution 3: Fix account mismatch
In the host app, check File → Account (or Account in the app menu) and confirm you’re signed in with the same account used to install. If not visible, sign out → fully quit the app → sign in again → open the Kutools pane.Solution 4: Refresh the load / clear cache
Close the Kutools pane → close the host app → reopen the app → open the pane again. If it still won’t show, clear the Office add-in cache (admin or advanced users) and retry.
- It may be Admin managed. Ask your Microsoft 365 admin to verify your assignment or redeploy it via Centralized Deployment.
- In Outlook, Pin the button so it stays visible on the toolbar.
