How to mark as final in Excel?
If you do not want others to do any edit or changes in your workbook, and in the meanwhile, you do not want to protect the workbook, how can you do? Now I introduce an easy method for you to solve this problem in Excel.
Mark as final in Excel
Mark as final will let the readers know this is the final file and make the file is read-only.
1. Enable the Workbook you need, click File > Info in Excel 2010/2013. See screenshot:
2. In the right section, click Protect Workbook and then in the drop-down list, click Mark as Final. See screenshot:
Tip: In Excel 2007, click Office button > Prepare > Mark as Final.
3. Then it will pops out two dialogs for reminding the workbook will be marked as final. See screenshots:
4. Click OK > OK to close dialogs. And now the workbook is marked as final and made as read-only.
Undo mark as final in Excel
If you want to undo mark as final in a workbook, you can do as follow:
Method 1 Click Mark as Final again
1. Open the file which marked as final, and click File > Info. See screenshot:
2. In the right section, click Protect Workbook and then in the drop-down list, click Mark as Final. See screenshot:
Now the workbook can be edited again.
Tip: In Excel 2007, click Office button > Prepare > Mark as Final.
Method 2 Click Edit Anyway button
1. Open the workbook that is marked as final, and you can see there is a yellow notification above every worksheet of the workbook.
2. Click the Edit Anyway button on the notification, then the workbook will exit mark as final.
Note: This method does not work in Excel 2007.
