Automatically empty delete items on close in Outlook 2010 and 2013
To automatically empty removed items from the Deleted Items folder when you close the Microsoft Outlook, please do as following:
Step 1: Click the File > Options.
Step 2: In the Outlook Options dialog box, please click the Advanced on the left bar.
Step 3: Go to the Outlook start and exit section, and check the option of Empty Deleted Items folders when exiting Outlook.
Step 4: Click the OK button to exit this dialog box.
From now on, the following dialog box will pop up when you close or exit your Microsoft Outlook. If you want to empty the Deleted Items folder, please click the Yes button; if not, please click the No button.
Note:
(1) This method will automatically remove all deleted items in the Deleted Items folders of all email accounts.
(2) This method will remove the subfolders in the Delete Items folders.
Automatically empty delete items on close in Outlook 2007
To automatically empty the Deleted Items folder when you are closing the Microsoft Outlook 2007, please do as following:
Step 1: Click the Tools > Options.
Step 2: In the Options dialog box, check the option of Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting on the Other tab. See screen shot:
Step 3: Click the OK button to exit the Options dialog box.
Note: This method can only permanently remove all deleted items and subfolders from the Deleted Items folder of default email Data Files.
