How to hide completed tasks in Outlook?
The way Outlook handles completed tasks is giving a strikethrough on them after you marking them as completed. And these completed tasks keep staying on the tasks folder until you removing them. Some Outlook users want to keep the record of the completed tasks and just want to hide them from the Outlook folder in order to keep the folder clear. This article provides you with some tricks for hiding completed tasks from your Outlook tasks folder in details.

Hide completed tasks with changing tasks view to Active in Outlook
You can hide the completed tasks with changing the tasks view to active in Outlook. Please do as follows.
1. Get into the Tasks folder which you want to hide the completed tasks.
2. Please click View > Change View > Active in Outlook 2010 and 2013. See screenshot:
In Outlook 2007, please click View > Current View > Active Tasks.
After clicking Active, you will see all completed tasks are hided at once from the selected Tasks folder. See screenshot:
Notes:
1. In the To-Do List folder, the tasks are disappeared automatically after you marking them as completed.
2. If you want to display the hidden completed tasks, you just need to change the view to Detailed List or Simple List in the Change View section under View tab.
Hide completed tasks with Outlook Filter function
Besides the above method, you can hide all completed tasks by creating a filter criterion with Outlook’s Filter function.
1. Get into the tasks folder which you want to hide all completed tasks from.
2. Then click View > View Settings in Outlook 2010 and 2013. See screenshot:
In Outlook 2007, please click View > Current View > Customize Current View.
3. In the Advanced View Settings dialog (In Outlook 2007, it is Customize Current View dialog box), click Filter button.
4. In the Filter dialog box, you need to:
A: Go to the Advanced tab;
B: Type “Complete” in the textbox under Field section;
C: Select not equal to in the Condition drop-down list;
D: Select Yes from the Value drop-down list;
E: Click Add to List button to add your criterion to the Find items that match these criteria list box.
F: Click OK button.
5. Click OK button in the following dialog box to finish the whole setting.
Note: To show the hidden completed tasks, you need to go to the Filter dialog box as above steps show, and remove the criterion you have created.
