Quickly split one contact group (distribution list) to both with only two steps

If you have Kutools for Outlook installed, you can quickly split a contact group into both by its fantastic Split to contact group feature in Outlook.

For splitting distribution list or contact group to multiple small contact groups in Outlook, you can do as follows.

1. Get into the contact folder containing the specified contact group, and double click to open it.

2. In the contact group window, please click Contact Group > Forward Group > In Internet Format (Card). See screenshot:

3. Then the contact group will be attached as a txt file in a new created Message window. Double click to open it. See screenshot:

4. In the opened Notepad window, click View > Status Bar to enable the Status Bar at the bottom of the window.

Note:
(1) Before enabling the Status Bar, you need to disable the Word Warp by Forward > Word Warp.
(2) The Status Bar helps you easily see the number of selected contacts when put the cursor behind the contact’s email address.

5. In the Notepad window, select the contacts you want to separate from this group, and press Ctrl + C keys to copy them.

6. Go back to Outlook People view, and click Home > New Contact Group to create a new contact group.

7. In the new contact group window, click Contact Group > Add Members > From Outlook Contacts. See screenshot:

8. In the Select Members dialog box, paste the contacts to the Members field, and then click the OK button. See screenshot:

10. Now it returns to the Contact Group window, please name the new contact group in the Name box, and then click the Save & Close button. See screenshot:

Notes: After finishing, close the windows you have opened without saving changes.

If you have Kutools for Outlook installed, you can quickly split a contact group into two with its Stripping (Contact Group) feature in Outlook.

1. Open the contact folder containing the specified contact group you will split, select this contact group, and click Kutools > Contact Group > Split to contact group. See screenshot:

2. In the opening Contact Group dialog box, please: (1) Check the members you will split to another contact group; (2) click the Ok button; (3) In the opening New Contact Group dialog box, type a name for the new contact group and click the OK button.

So far the specified contact group has been split to two contact groups already.

Sometimes, you may just to split a contact group and save each member as a separate contact in Outlook. In this situation, you can try Kutools for Outlook’s Break Up (Contact Group) feature.

1. Open the contact folder containing the specified contact group you will split, select this contact group, and click Kutools > Contact Group > Break. See screenshot:

2. In the opening Contact Group dialog box, please check the memebers you will break out, click the Ok button, and then click the Yes button in the popping up confirmation dialog box. See screenshot：

Up to now, the specified contact group has been split to multiple separate contacts.
