How to remove text within brackets/parentheses in Excel?

If you have multiple data, and some of the data is within brackets or parentheses, now you want to remove the text within the brackets as below screenshots shown, how can you quickly to solve it?

To remove text which is around with brackets, you can find them out, and then replace them as blank.

1. Press Ctrl + H keys to enable the Find and Replace dialog, in the Find what textbox, type (*) into it, and go to Replace with textbox, type ( ) into it. See screenshot:

2. Then click Replace All. Then a dialog pops out to remind you the number of replacements. Click OK to close it.

Remove text in parentheses across multiple sheets with Kutools for Excel

If you have opened multiple workbooks, and need to remove all the text within parentheses in the opened workbooks, you can use Kutools for Excel’s advanced Find and Replace to find and replace text across workbooks.

After free installing Kutools for Excel, please do as below:

1. Click Kutools > Navigation to enable Navigation pane, then click Find and Replace icon to go to Find and Replace section. See screenshots:

3. Then select Replace tab, and in the Find what textbox, type (*) into it, and go to Replace with textbox, type ( ) into it, and select All workbooks under Within drop down list, See screenshot:

Tip: If you want to replace in specific sheets, you can check the sheet names in Workbooks list.

4. Click Replace All. Then all the texts within brackets are replaced with blank.

With Navigation pane, you can list all open worksheets’ names, range names, and add auto text as you like. Click here to know more about Navigation.

If you want to remove parentheses or brackets, you can use Kutools for Excel’s Remove Characters.

After free installing Kutools for Excel, please do as below:

1. Select the data range you want to remove brackets, and click Kutools > Text > Remove Characters. See screenshot:

2. In the Remove Characters dialog, only check Custom option, and then type () into the textbox, you can preview the result in the Preview pane. See screenshot:

3. Click Ok or Apply. Now all the brackets of selection are removed.
