How to count the number of visible sheets in a workbook?

In a large workbook with multiple sheets, some of sheets are visible, and some of sheets are hidden, and in some cases, you may need to count the total number of the visible sheets of the workbook, how can you count them in a short time? Now I introduce some tricks for you to quickly count the number of visible sheets in a workbook.

In Excel, instead of counting visible sheets one by one, you can use VBA to quickly count the number of visible sheets.

1. Press Alt + F11 keys to enable Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications window, then click Insert > Module to open a new Module.

2. Paste the below VBA code to the Module window.

3. Press Run button. A dialog will appear, telling you the number of visible sheets.

Count number of visible sheets/hidden sheets/all sheets with Kutools for Excel

If you are not familiar with VBA, you can use Kutools for Excel’s Navigation pane to quickly view the numbers of visible sheets, hidden sheets and all sheets.

1. Enable the workbook you want to count the number of visible sheets, and click Kutools > Navigation. See screenshot:

2. Then the Navigation pane appears on the left side of the current sheet, click Workbook & Sheet tab to go to Workbook & Sheet section. You can view the number of visible sheets, hidden sheets, and all sheets (including both visible and hidden) at the bottom of the pane. See screenshot:

If you want to hide the Navigation pane, just click Kutools > Navigation to toggle it off.
