How to hyperlink a command button to a URL address in Excel?

In Excel, it may be easy for us to create a hyperlink for a shape button, but, have you ever tried to create a hyperlink to a command button? When you click the command button, it will go to the specified URL website as you need. This article, I will introduce some quick and easy tricks to deal with this task in Excel.

To hyperlink a command button, please do with the following steps:

1. Click Developer > Insert > Command Button (ActiveX Control), and then draw a button as following screenshot shown:

2. After inserting the command button, right click it, and choose Properties from the context menu, in the Properties dialog box, click Categorized tab, and enter the complete website address you want to link into the Caption text box, see screenshot:

3. Then close the dialog, and right click the sheet tab which contains the command button, and select View Code from the context menu, and in the opened Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications window, copy and paste the following code into the blank Module:

VBA code: hyperlink to a command button:

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink _
Address:=CommandButton1.Caption
End Sub

Note: In the above code, CommandButton1 is the name of the created command button, please change it to your need.

4. And then save the code, and exit the Design Mode, now, when you click the command button, it will go the specific webpage.

Tips: If the caption in the command button is not the URL address, it is only text string as following screenshot shown:

Note: In the above code, CommandButton1 is the name of the created command button, and you should replace the website address https://www.extendoffice.com to your own URL address.
