How to change thousand separator from comma to decimal point or vice versa in Excel?

When working with international data in Excel, you might need to switch the thousand separator from a comma to a decimal point or vice versa. This guide demonstrates how to modify these settings easily using the Excel Options menu.

If you have a list of numbers as below screenshot shown, now you want to convert the commas (the thousands separator ) to decimal points, and the decimal points (decimal separator) to commas, you can use the Option function.

1. Click File > Options.

2. In the Excel Options dialog, click Advanced from the left pane. Then, in the right section under the Editing options group, uncheck Use system separators, type a comma into the Decimal separator box to replace the decimal point, and type a decimal point into the Thousand separator box to replace the comma.

3. Click OK.
