How to prevent a dynamic line chart from dropping to zero in Excel?

Supposing you have a monthly sales table as shown in the screenshot below. For the last few days where the quantities have not yet been entered, the sales for those days are displayed as 0. Besides, you have created a dynamic line chart for the sales values. You can see in the chart that the line suddenly drops to zero. How to prevent the dynamic line chart from dropping to zero in Excel? This article will show you the method.

Prevent a dynamic line chart from dropping to zero

To prevent a dynamic line chart from dropping to zero, you need to display the zero values in the original range as #N/A, please do as follows to get it done.

1. Select the cell (D2 in this case) containing the first sales value, replace the current formula with the formula below, and then press the Enter key.

=IF(C2=0,NA(),B2*C2)

Notes:

1) In this case, the original formula in the cell B2 is =B2*C2, so I change the formula to =IF(C2=0,NA(),B2*C2) to include the original formula in the IF function.
2) All zero values are now displayed as #N/A in the original range.

Then the dynamic line chart stops dropping to zero. See screenshot:
