Close all Word documents in Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, and 2010 using a tab bar

Usually, the more Word documents we open, the more close buttons we have to click, as Microsoft Office does not provide a tab feature. Is there an add-in that allows us to add tabs to Word so we can close all documents with one click? Yes, Office Tab is the best solution.

With Office Tab, managing multiple Word documents is much easier as they are displayed as tabs in a single Word window. This makes it possible to close all Word documents with just one click. Here are three ways to do it using Office Tab:

Method 1: Use the context menu

  1. Right-click anywhere on the tab bar.
  2. In the context menu that appears, click Close All Tabs.
  3. All Word documents tabbed on the tab bar will be closed, leaving the Word template window open.

Method 2: Use the close button

  1. Click the Close button at the top-right corner of the Word window.
  2. The Office Tab confirmation window will appear.
  3. Click Close All Tabs, and all Word documents will be closed.

Method 3: Close tabs one by one

  1. Office Tab provides tabbed browsing for Microsoft Office, reducing clutter on the Windows taskbar.
  2. If you prefer, you can close Word documents one by one by clicking the Close (X) button on each tab.

What if Office Tab is not installed?

If you have not installed Office Tab, closing multiple Word documents in older Word versions and Windows systems can be tedious. You would need to manually switch between documents on the taskbar and close each one individually, repeating the process until all are closed.
