Kutools for Word
It’s not easy for you to manage lot of captions quickly and comfortably in a Word document. Kutools for Word brings you the handy utility - Caption Pane, which can help you easily achieve:
- List of all captions of current document within caption pane
- Navigate between all captions quickly and comfortably
- Easily cross-references a caption in current document

All captions in current document will be listed in the Caption Pane, including table captions, figure captions, and equation captions. In addition, Caption Pane displays the full caption name of each caption. If users change caption names in document, the corresponding caption names in Caption Pane will update automatically.

Navigate between all captions quickly and comfortably
Caption Pane is located at the left side of working area. Within Caption Pane, users can navigate between all captions quickly and comfortably as follows.
Just click the specified caption name in the Caption Pane, and cursor will skip to the position of this caption immediately.
For example, if you want to quickly navigate to the Figure 2 as shown in the below screenshot, please click the Figure 2 in the Caption Pane, and it will navigate to the position of Figure 2 immediately.
Easily cross-references a caption in current document
We can easily make cross reference caption quickly without opening the Cross-Reference dialog box any longer.
1. Firstly, select the specified caption that you want to cross reference within the Caption Pane.
2. And then place the cursor in the document where you want to add the cross reference.
3. At last click the 
button to cross-reference the selected caption.
For example, if you want to cross-reference the Figure 3 in the document, please select the Figure 3 in the Caption Pane, put the cursor to the position where you want to cross-reference in the document, and then and click button.
