How to VLOOKUP value case sensitive or insensitive in Excel?
Supposing you have a range of data as below screenshot shown, and now you want to look up the price of item va-6. With general looking up formula, you will get the price of the first matched data insensitive. Here this tutorial is going to introduce the methods to VLOOKUP value case sensitive or insensitive in Excel.
Lookup case insensitive with VLOOKUP formula
Lookup case insensitive with Kutools for Excel

Lookup case insensitive with VLOOKUP formula
To VLOOKUP a value based on another value case insensitive, you just need one VLOOKUP formula.
Select a blank cell which will place the found value, and type this formula =VLOOKUP(F1,$A$2:$C$7,3,FALSE) into it, and press Enter key to get the first matched data.
Tip: In the formula, F1 is the value you want to lookup, A2:C7 is the table range, and 3 indicates the number of column you want to find the matched data, you can change them to meet your needs.
Lookup case insensitive with Kutools for Excel
If you have Kutools for Excel installed, you can use the Look for a value in list function to quickly and easily lookup a value case insensitive.
After free installing Kutools for Excel, please do as below:
1. Select a blank cell which you will place the math data into, and then click Kutools > Formula Helper > Formula Helper. See screenshot:
2. In the Formula Helper dialog, select Look for a value in list from the Choose a formula section, then go to right section to specify the table range, lookup value and the column you want to return to. See screenshot:
3. Click Ok, and now the match data has been returned.
Lookup case sensitive with SUMPRODUCT
If you want to look up a value case sensitive, you can use SUMPRODUCT function.
Select a blank cell which you will put the match data into, and enter this formula =SUMPRODUCT((EXACT($A$2:$A$7,$F$1)*($C$2:$C$7))) and press Enter key to get the match data. See screenshot:
Tip: In the formula, $A$2:$A$7 is the column where you will match the lookup value, F1 is the value you want to lookup, $C$2:$C$7 is the column you want to find the matched data. You can change them to meet your needs.
Lookup case sensitive with User Defined Function
Actually, if you’d like to use User Defined Function, here is one to handle this job.
1. Press F11 + Alt keys to open Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications window.
2. Click Insert > Module, and paste below VBA to the new Module window.

3. Save the code, and return to the active worksheet and select a blank cell which you will place the match data into, type this formula =CaseVLook(F1,A1:C7,3) into it, and press Enter key to get the result. See screenshot:
Tip: In the formula, F1 is the value you want to lookup, A2:C7 is the table range, and 3 indicates the number of column you want to find the matched data, you can change them to meet your needs.
