1. You need to define the numbers for day of weeks in a table, says 1 for Sun, 2 for Mon, …, and 7 for Sat.
2. Then list the criteria (year, month, the ordinal number, and the day of week) you will calculate the date based on.
3. Now select a blank cell, type below formula into it, and press the Enter key.
=DATE(E3,F3,1+H3*7)-WEEKDAY(DATE(E3,F3,8-VLOOKUP(G3,B3:C9,2,FALSE)))
Note: In above formula,
- E3 is year
- F3 is month
- H3 is the specified nth of day of week
- B3:C9 is the table where you defined the numbers for weekdays
- G3 is the specified day of week
Calculate date of last day of week in a given month and year in Excel
If you need to calculate date of the last day of week in a given month and year in Excel, you can calculate the first day of week, says 1st Wednesday in next month, and then subtract 7 to get the date.
Select a blank cell, enter below formula, and press the Enter key.
=DATE(E3,F3+1,8)-WEEKDAY(DATE(E3,F3+1,8-VLOOKUP(G3,B3:C9,2,FALSE)))-7
Note: In above formula,
- E3 is year
- F3 is month
- G3 is the specified day of week
- B3:C9 is the table where you defined the numbers for weekdays
