How to apply both landscape and portrait orientation in the same Word document?

By default, when you change the page orientation in a Word document, the change is applied to the entire document. But what if you only want to change the orientation for specific pages—such as inserting a landscape page between portrait pages? This guide shows you how to mix both orientations in one document.

Apply both landscape and portrait orientation in the same Word document

To apply different page orientations within a single Word document, follow these steps:

  1. Select the content or page(s) that you want to change to a different orientation. Then, click the "Page Setup" launcher under the "Layout" tab.

  2. In the "Page Setup" dialog box:
    1. Choose either "Portrait" or "Landscape" under the "Orientation" section.
    2. Select "Selected text" from the "Apply to" drop-down list.

  3. Click "OK". The selected pages will now be set to the chosen orientation.
    Specific pages are converted to the page orientation you specified
