Manually add captions to individual tables, figures, or equations
This method demonstrates how to manually add a caption to a specific object (such as a picture, table, or equation) using the Insert Caption feature. Follow these steps:
This method applies a caption to the currently selected object only. If you need to insert captions for multiple tables, figures, or equations at once, consider using Kutools for Word.
- Select the object (picture, table, or equation) you want to caption.
- Go to References > Insert Caption.
- In the Caption dialog box:
- Select the appropriate label type from the Label drop-down list.
- Choose the label position from the Position drop-down list.
- Click OK to apply the caption.
Once completed, the caption will be added to the selected object.
Automatically insert captions for all objects at once using Kutools for Word
With Kutools for Word, the Multiple Captions utility allows you to insert captions for all tables, figures, and equations at once. Additionally, it supports adding captions to SmartArt and Charts, making the process quick and efficient.
- Go to Kutools Plus > Multiple Captions.
