How to export/save/convert tables as images in Word?

When you need to convert or save tables as images in a Word document, you might wonder about the most efficient way to do it. While Word doesn’t offer a built-in feature for directly converting tables into images, there are several workarounds available.

In this tutorial, I will introduce two effective methods to help you convert tables into images:

Export tables as images with MS Paint in Word

Export tables as images with Kutools for Word

Export tables as images with Paint in Word

In Microsoft Word, you can use Microsoft Paint to export tables as images. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Word document and scroll down to the table you want to export so it is visible on your screen.
  2. Press the PrtScn (Print Screen/SysRq) key on your keyboard to take a screenshot of your screen.
  3. Click Windows Start > All Programs > Windows Accessories > Paint to open Microsoft Paint.

  4. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot into the Paint canvas. Then, click Select to choose the area of the table you want to export as an image.

  5. Right-click the selected area and choose Crop from the context menu.

  6. Click File > Save as and choose a preferred image format (e.g., PNG, JPEG) from the list.

  7. In the pop-up dialog, select a folder to save the image and click Save.

Note: If your document contains multiple tables across different pages, you will need to repeat the above steps for each table.

Export tables as images with Kutools for Word

  2. In the Export Picture/Table to Images dialog box:
    1. Select Tables from the Types drop-down list.
    2. Specify the image type to export from the Export format drop-down list.
    3. Click the Folder selection icon button under the Save directory section to choose a folder for saving the table images.
    4. Optionally, check the Create index html box if needed.

  3. Click Export to begin exporting. All tables in the document will be saved as images in the specified folder.
